I wish I could record my thoughts,
And read them over to myself.
Oh! to catch the moment’s rush
Of vision sprinkled through the air.
I wish I could keep looks on faces,
And match them up to reasons,
Turn them into illustrious paintings,
And hang them up in some museum.
I wish I could save the laughter
Of loved ones by me now.
Then when time has beaten them down,
Their mirth will still resound.
I wish I could imprison music
That treks heaven’s utmost heights,
And play it in a music box
Whenever I should like.
I wish I could unravel words
That clutter shelves within my mind.
I’d taste each one to test its worth,
Toss the bad and keep the fine.
And read them over to myself.
Oh! to catch the moment’s rush
Of vision sprinkled through the air.
I wish I could keep looks on faces,
And match them up to reasons,
Turn them into illustrious paintings,
And hang them up in some museum.
I wish I could save the laughter
Of loved ones by me now.
Then when time has beaten them down,
Their mirth will still resound.
I wish I could imprison music
That treks heaven’s utmost heights,
And play it in a music box
Whenever I should like.
I wish I could unravel words
That clutter shelves within my mind.
I’d taste each one to test its worth,
Toss the bad and keep the fine.
